Harvesting straw to generate renewable electricity
We harvest and bale straw, which we then supply to straw fired power stations. The straw is burnt to create a high-pressure, high steam, which will drive a steam turbine so that electricity is generated. This electricity is then fed back into the national grid and used to power businesses and homes across the country.
We provide a full straw baling and clearing service.
As we operate our own balers, chasers and lorries to provide a complete straw clearing service to ensure farmland is cleared rapidly with minimum compaction.
It also means that we have full control over the efficiency and cleanliness of the machines, which is becoming increasingly critical because machinery can act as a vector for seed, including blackgrass. By baling straw, it makes a big difference when it comes to the battle we are currently having in terms of blackgrass control, as it gets rid of any material that has the possibility of returning blackgrass seed back to the soil.
